Ischia
Largest of the islands of the Bay of the Naples, Ischia has a 34 Km diameter, presents high and steep coasts and the highest point in the Epomeo Month (788 m.). The island is rich of volcanic sources, contains 6 municipalities and is known as a famous resort since the Roman age for its beach resorts, thermal springs and therapeutic sands. From Pozzuoli by Ferry (40 min.)
Places to Visit
- The Aragonese Castle crowns an offshore rock in Ischia Ponte and is accessible from a short causeway.
- The Fumarole in Sant'Angelo where steam emerges from under the rocks in a kind of outdoor sauna.
- The near island of Procida with the large beaches and the nature reserve of Vivara.
Little Pleasures
- To bathe on one of lovely beaches of Ischia Porto, Forio and Sant'Angelo.
- To go on a trip to Serrara Fontana and then to climb up to the summit of Monte Epomeo, a dormant Volcano with wonderful views back over the coast.
- To taste a glass of local wine or .. of therapeutic water!
