country. He came from Holland in 1652. He first settled in Brooklyn, NY,
near Fulton Street Ferry, and later in the village of Bedford, in Brooklyn
township. Bedford lay SE of the Wallabout and east of the village of
Brooklyn. The little settlement was adjacent on the south to another
known as Cripplebush, and lay at the intersection of the Jamacia
highway, the Clove Road running to Flatbush, and the Cripple-bush Road
running to Newton. In 6 Apr 1677, he purchased land in Flatbush. In 1687
he was elected "Commisioner," serving until 1701. It is supposed that
his grave is either in the old Dutch church-yard at Brooklyn, or on his
"bowery" homestead at Bedford.

!NOTE: In contrast to the above analysis by John Dorland Cremer that
Lambert Janse Dorlandt and Jans Gerretse Dorlandt were brothers,
another research found otherwise. J. Daams, Grindsingel 23, Kartenhoef,
Holland, whose mother was a Dorland, did research in Holland that seems
to prove otherwise. His extensive research of Holland records traces the
Dorlandt line bact to a Splinter Van Ruwiel born in 1298. He shows in
his research that Lambert Janse Dorlandt is actually the greatgrandson
of Marten Dorlant (RIN 5456), and, therefore, would be the 2nd cousin
once removed of Jan Gerretse Dorlandt.
