

(From "Edgings" Book 162 published 1941). Substitutions will most certainly be necessary. Pattern instructions are given for two colors.

Two-color edging
With 1st colo make a chain slightly longer than desired length.
1st row: Dc in 5th ch from hook, * skip 3 ch, dc in next ch, ch 2, dc in same ch. Repeat from * across, turn.
2nd row: Sl st in ch-2 sp,ch 4,2 tr in same sp as sl st, keeping the last loop of each tr on hook; thread over and draw through all loops on hook--a cluster made, * ch 5, 3 tr in next ch-2 sp,holding back the last loop of each tr on hook and complete a cluster as before. Repeat from * across, ending with 1 cluster in turning ch-5. Fasten off.
3rd row: With wrong side of clusters toward you, attach second color to tip of 1st cluster, ch 3, dc in next loop, * ch 3, d tr at tip of next cluster, ch 3, dc in each of next 2 loops. Repeat from *, ending with dc in last loop; dc in tip of last cluster. Ch 1, turn.
4th row: 5 sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 4, skip d tr, 5 sc in next sp, skip 2 dc. Repeat from *, ending with 5 sc in last sp. Fasten off.
